TYMES TRUST ALERT 11 May 2010 Jane Colby FRSA Executive Director The Young ME Sufferers Trust www.tymestrust.org ====== NEW ISSUE OF MINI-VISION PUBLISHED FOR ME AWARENESS DAY 2010 ====== We send everyone our very good wishes as we remember you all on ME Awareness Day 2010. Members and Partner Groups should find the latest MiniVision dropping on their doormats for the Big Day. You can also read it in full colour here: www.tymestrust.org/pdfs/vision2010-1.pdf. There are several important matters I would draw to your attention which are covered in MiniVision. One is the research that we have co-funded, which is finally coming to fruition. We are very keen for the two papers to be published so as to share the full results with you. The next is the Learning Commitment Awards celebration in the House of Lords on ME AWareness Day itself. These recognise the sheer perseverance of children with ME. The Queen's Cousin Lady Elizabeth Anson, one of our patrons, is presenting these awards. Finally, I hope you will find the booklet we have sent out with Mini-Vision helpful. This booklet revisits the 2002 Dept of Health Report on CFS/ME. We are bringing you important excerpts from the Children's Chapter of the Chief Medical Officer's Working Group Report, which, although published, was never circulated by the Dept of Health. We feel that the sections on Education and Child Protection, which we fought so hard for when we were on the Working Group, are particularly good. We hope this information will assist families, doctors and teachers. You can find the booklet here: www.tymestrust.org/pdfs/revisitcmoreport.pdf. The All Party Parliamentary Group on ME has also accepted our suggestion that key recommendations of the Report which were not acted upon should be implemented, and the APPG Legacy paper includes our recommendations to help stop the many mistaken child protection procedures being taken against families of children with ME. More news soon.
